George Comden
1894 - 1974
George served in the US Army during WWI. He was assigned to Co. M, 306 Infantry, 77th Div.
Compay M arrived in France in May, 1918, and after training with the British forces took part in the Second Battle of the Marne in July, 1918, Vesle in Aug, 1918 and in the Argonne in Sept. - Oct. 1918.
During all the months George was in France - May 1918 through April 1919 - he wrote to his family at every opportunity, with wonderful descriptions of the life of a "doughboy" and of his longing to be back in New York with his family.
